During my internship at Hoosier Village, I completed detailed resident assessments, including BIMS and PHQ-9, to support clinical evaluations and care planning. I also participated in care plan meetings, where I listened to residents and their families share concerns and helped the team think through ways to address their needs. This experience allowed me to better understand how teams work together to support older adults in a long-term care setting.

In addition, I occasionally assisted the life enrichment team by joining residents in daily activities, which helped me build stronger connections with them outside of formal assessments. I also completed the Dementia Education certification, which improved my communication skills and taught me how to interact more effectively with residents experiencing cognitive decline. Overall, this internship strengthened my understanding of resident-centered care and the importance of compassion in healthcare settings.
